Welcome to The Journal: a floral journey
Flowers have a way of speaking without words. They capture emotions, mark moments, and bring beauty to spaces in the most natural, effortless way. My journey with flowers started unexpectedly, but looking back, I realize it was always meant to be.
From Fashion to Flowers
I began my creative career in Italy as a fashion designer, drawn to art, beauty, and the stories woven into fabrics. But over time, the fast-paced industry left me feeling drained. I longed for something more organic, something that connected me to nature in a deeper way.
That’s when an intuition sparked: flowers could be my path back to happiness. I followed that instinct and enrolled in a course in sustainable floral farming and design in Como. What started as an experiment quickly became a passion. I found myself growing my first flowers in my grandmother’s garden, crafting arrangements from blooms I had nurtured myself.
A New Chapter in California
Life then took me across the world—to California—where I moved with my husband and our beloved wolf, Annica. In San Francisco, I stepped into the floral industry, working in a local shop, observing, learning, and eventually freelancing for some of the best floral studios in the Bay Area. It wasn’t long before I took the leap and launched Amour de Gitane, my own floral design studio, where I could fully embrace my vision and creativity.
Why This Blog?
Flowers are more than just decor—they tell a story, set a mood, and, when chosen with intention, respect the rhythms of nature. I created this blog to share that perspective.
I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of past eras—the romance of classic novels, the elegance of period aesthetics, the kind of beauty that doesn’t follow trends but remains timeless. My floral style is romantic, dramatic, wild, and natural. I see love as a classic novel—timeless, rich in emotions, and full of unexpected twists, just like nature itself. But while I take inspiration from history, I have no interest in clichés. Beauty should feel alive, authentic, and deeply personal, not just a repetition of what has been done before.
Here, I’ll explore topics that inspire me and hopefully inspire you too:
